The Flatiron from 5th

£1,500.00

I’d found myself in a nice little spot tucked out of the way but in full view of the Flatiron building early on the second morning of painting in New York, USA. Journeying further south from Times Square added to the feeling of calm. I hoped the sun would begin to burn through, but after a couple of hours, I was too far down the greyish painting to turn back. I like all the greys, in fact. I look forward to adding those chromatic touches at the end that make the whole thing pop! Traffic cones and traffic lights are literally the highlights, although I can hear my eldest daughter telling me not to overdo it, and she’s right.

Each piece is created from life — a real place and time where I breath in what I perceive and attempt to show you, the viewer, what I see and how it makes me feel. My artistoc journey has led me to direct observation from life. An objective and subjective truth I can share.

I’m very fortunate to be increasingly receiving commissions for paintings from all over the world. It is a tremendous honor to be employed in such a way, and it is very much appreciated. Without the trust and generosity of patrons, many artists simply wouldn’t be working, including me.
