Southwold Beach and Pier from North Parade is an original oil painting by Nick Grove.

Painted from life in June 2024.
There are many places along the Southwold promenade from which to paint the beach and pier, but none offer a better vantage point than this elevated position above the public toilets. From here, the scene opens fully, encompassing everything that defines Southwold as a classic British seaside town.
The view is immersive. From this height you hear the excitement drifting up from the beach below and catch the smell of fish and chips carried on the breeze. It’s a scene full of movement and atmosphere, and the elevated perspective allows those elements to be organised clearly within the composition.
This painting is a direct response to that experience—observed carefully, painted from life, and shaped by the sensation of standing there on the day.
