New Cavendish Street, Marylebone

£2,500.00

Heading into Marylebone is a relatively easy drive, and I have discovered a great place to park that gives me easy access to this part of London. I head down this way quite regularly to deliver paintings to my galler. On this occasion I also had a commission to complete as well. The brief was to capture Marylebone High Street and, if possible, the blossom on the cherry trees that frequent this area. It was a little bit early for the blossom; however, I used a little artistic license to speed the season along.

‘New Cavendish Street, Marylebone’, however, was an extra painting from the day and is a more accurate representation of the great British spring weather. I was taken by the colour of the buildings on New Cavendish Street.  They exude a warm and earthy colour similar to Burnt Sienna. As it’s a Sunday morning, the traffic is quiet, and there aren’t many people around. It’s also cold for this time of year; fortunately, the lady in the coffee shop down the street took pity on me and brought me a hot cup of coffee. You’d be surprised at how often that happens.
