It was a June day. Grey skies and the risk of showers were ever present, but actually it stayed dry. I ventured to this part of London to paint Hammersmith Bridge, but this time from a different angle. I’m used to painting the bridge from the west, where there are numerous places you can set up your easel. From the East, it proved to be a bit more challenging. I struggled with the composition to begin with, as I initially wanted to include the whole of the bridge. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a spot from the east side that would allow me to do that. After a few attempts, I settled for just one end and turned my attention to the structure of the pedestals and the walkers venturing out at low tide.
