I am thrilled to announce my participation and role as a selector in this year’s Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) Open Exhibition. Serving on the selectors committee, I reviewed over 2,000 submissions—a record number that promises a vibrant exhibition.
As a full member of the Riyal Society of Marine Artists, I am able to enter several pieces into the exhibition. This year, I am presenting two works from recent visits to North Norfolk, showcasing scenes from Blakeney and Wells-Next-the-Sea. Additionally, I am exhibiting two pieces from Aldeburgh, along with a large studio piece offering a view of the Thames from London Bridge.
About the RSMA
The Royal Society of Marine Artists is a premier institution representing Britain’s finest contemporary marine art. With many of the nation’s leading marine artists as members, the Society is at the forefront of celebrating Britain’s maritime heritage.
Britain, with its extensive coastline of approximately 19,400 miles, offers a diverse and stunning array of landscapes. This rich maritime tradition is a fundamental aspect of the nation’s identity, and the RSMA is dedicated to honoring this heritage through art.
The artwork showcased by the RSMA spans a broad spectrum of representational styles, subjects, and mediums. Members explore themes ranging from historical maritime events to the dynamism of modern yacht racing. Others capture the serenity of quiet harbors and creeks or find beauty in commercial vessels like super-tankers. Inspiration is drawn from both the surface of the sea and the world beneath it.
No matter the style or subject, whether created en plein air or in the studio, the sea remains the central inspiration for the artists.
