I hope the sheer joy of painting in Venice is evident in this work. To be here—with easel and paint—is already enough, but to be actively responding to the city while immersed in its noise, rhythm, and air is something altogether special.
The light in Venice is extraordinary, changing constantly from morning through to night. In Piazza San Marco, this transformation is particularly pronounced. I returned to this spot several times during my stay, producing a small series of paintings at different times of day. This work sits between the morning and evening studies, capturing a moment of transition.
Working here requires speed and discretion. The paintings are about immediacy—responding honestly to fleeting conditions before they slip away. What remains is not a detailed record, but a distilled experience of place and light.
