Towards Hammersmith Bridge, Early Morning, March
18x24in, Oil on Canvas, Framed

This atmospheric painting of London captures the quiet, ethereal beauty of an early March morning near Hammersmith Bridge. Originally exhibited at my inaugural solo show at Stamford Contemporary Arts in 2019, the piece was thought to be lost—hidden away until its rediscovery in March 2025. I’m delighted to offer it now as part of our inaugural fine art auction.

The inspiration for this work comes from the legendary artist Edward Seago, whose mastery of light, mist, and atmosphere brought a timeless quality to his landscapes. In this painting, I aimed to echo that sense of transience, using a technique reminiscent of Sfumato—the soft, gradual blending of tones and colors pioneered by Leonardo da Vinci. This approach creates a subtle, dreamlike quality where the scene gently emerges from the mist, a technique I continue to apply in my figurative and landscape work today.
