Still Life Painting Workshop
During this 10 week Workshop you will learn to master and apply the fundamental principles of drawing. Giving you a solid foundation to go on and improve all areas of your artistic creation.
- Materials and tools
- Using the sight-size and comparative measure techniques
- Seeing in mass, creating volume
- Understanding tone, values, and Chiaroscuro
- Edges and blending
- Refining and finishing
The Workshop Room is located at Stamford Contemporary Arts on Maiden Lane. The workshops sits along side a working studio where you can view the work of the resident artists. A small kitchen area and toilet facilities are available.
Easels, props, and life models are provided. Please bring your own materials. Suggested materials include-
- Putty rubbers
- Masking tape
- Fixative spray
- Pre toned paper/art-pad
Each class is limited to 10 students.
Week 1 – Course Introduction, Materials & Tools Overview. Composition.
Week 2 – Drawing using the sight-size method and comparative measure
Week 3 – Still Life session 1
Week 4 – Still Life session 2
Week 5 – Tone, Values, Chiaroscuro
Week 6 – Seeing in Mass, drawing the life model
Week 7 – Life Model Session 1
Week 8 – Life Model session 2
Week 9 – Life model session 3
Week 10 – Refining, finishing
